Strong first half not enough for Bulldogs in 14-11 loss to UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Bryant University women's lacrosse team fell to UAlbany 14-11 in an America East contest on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

Quarter 1: The Bulldogs struck first with Kenna Kaut scoring three minutes into the contest. Kaut then went on to score two more with Kelly Ford adding another to put four goals in Bryant's name. The defense held strong, only allowing two in the quarter.
Quarter 2: UAlbany kept the Bulldogs close in the second quarter but Bryant still had the edge 3-2 in the frame to make the half time score 7-4.
Quarter 3: After making halftime adjustments, UAlbany came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Bryant 5-1 and making the score 9-8.
Quarter 4: The Bulldogs tried to regain the edge in the fourth but the Great Danes tallied five goals to Bryant's three to take the win.

Notes and Notables

  • Kenna Kaut led the Black and Gold in scoring with six goals on the afternoon. Kaut now has 50 goals on the season for the third straight year.
  • Riley O'Mara and Emily DeGeorge tallied a pair of goals each.
  • Sophomore defender Kelly Ford scored her first career goal in the affair on a breakaway at end of the first quarter.
  • Peyton Woodward led the team in assists with three in the game. Woodward now has a team leading 26 assists on the campaign.
  • Freshman Kolbi Spencer tallied the first assist of her career on a dish to DeGeorge in the second quarter.
  • Freshman Kaelynn O'Brien recorded a season and career high six ground balls on the afternoon.
  • Bryant had the advantage in shots, 34-33, and ground balls, 23-18. UAlbany had the upper hand on draw controls, winning 17 to the Bulldogs' 11.
  •  Goalkeeper Sam Centofante made nine save in the game.
