Woodward tallies 100th career point in loss to UMass Lowell

LOWELL, MA - Despite their efforts to erase the early deficit, the Bryant University women's lacrosse team fell to the UMass Lowell River Hawks, 16-13, on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

Quarter 1: UMass Lowell came out firing, scoring four straight goals in the first eight minutes of the game. For the final seven minutes, Bryant was able to keep even with the River Hawks, 2-2, making the score going into the second 6-2.
Quarter 2: The Black and Gold were not about to go down so early in the game without a fight. The Bulldogs scored seven goals to UMass Lowell's four in the second quarter to gain the momentum and go into halftime down only one goal, 10-9.
Quarter 3: While Bryant stuck first in the third quarter, the River Hawks scored four unanswered goals to widen their lead to 14-10.
Quarter 4: UMass Lowell continued their run with two more goals to start the fourth. The Bulldogs answered back with three more goals in the last eight minutes of play but it wasn't enough to topple the six goal deficit, bringing the final score to 16-13 in favor of the River Hawks.

Notes and Notables

  • Senior Peyton Woodward tallied her 100 career point on an assist to Kenna Kaut in the second quarter. Woodward's goal and two assists on the afternoon bring her to 101 total points. She becomes one of two Bulldogs with triple digit career points on the young Bryant team.
  • Kaut's four goals in the game brought her to 59 goals on the season, a new season high for the senior. The co-captain's previous mark was 58 goals which she set during her sophomore campaign. Kaut also matched a career high with two assists. The last time she dished out two assists in a game was against Lafayette in 2023.
  • Emily DeGeorge also tied a career high with her four goals. This is the third time this season that the sophomore has put up three goals in a game.
  • Amelia Piercy was the team's third multi-goal contributor, tallying a hat trick on the day.
  • Gabriella Constant added to her goal and assists totals with one of each in the game to bring her season totals to 11 goals and three assists.
  • Kaut also racked up a team high nine draw controls which was just one shy of her career high ten.
  • Bryant had the edge in shots 39-33 but UMass Lowell took the advantage on draw controls 18-13. The squads both picked up 13 ground balls each.
  • Goalkeeper Sam Centofante made 10 saves in the contest.
