Women's Soccer Snaps 3-Game Losing Streak with 3-0 Victory over Bentley
– Amy Orzechowski’s (Milford,
Conn.) early first half goal set the immediate tone and
helped the Bulldogs snap their three-game losing streak in a 3-0
victory over the Bentley Falcons.
Orzechowski scored an unassisted goal 3:32 into the game, her third
of the season, pulling the ball out of a crowd, following
Danielle Malta’s (Behtel, Conn.) free kick
into the box.
Bryant made it 2-0 in the 51st minute when junior Stephanie
Zalewski (Parsippany, N.J.) took a Casey Grange
(Methuen, Mass.) centering pass and buried it past Falcons
goaltender Kristin Stanmyer for her first goal of the season.
Grange put the game away in the 83rd minute scoring her tenth of
the season off a feed from Tricia Spada (Dedham,
Mass.) Grange has scored in seven of her team’s
eight games this season and needs three more goals to tie the
school record for goals in a season and in a career.
The Bulldogs were very effective passing the ball in the midfield
against the Falcons (4-3-0, 1-3-0 NE-10) and kept them off the
scoreboard behind stingy defense and timely saves from
Jessica Clark (Barnstable, Mass.). Clark is now
2-0 this season with two shutouts.
Stanmyer kept the Falcons in the game, stopping 11 shots, many of
them coming from close proximity.
The Bulldogs (5-3-0, 3-2-0 NE-10) will host UMass-Lowell Friday at
the Bryant Turf Complex (7 p.m.)
