Women fall, 3-0, in season finale

Ali Kliment scored a pair of second half goals for Monmouth to get the 3-0 shutout in New Jersey

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Ali Kliment scored a pair of second half goals for Monmouth as the Bryant University women's soccer team fell in its 2010 season finale, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in West Long Branch, N.J.

The Bulldogs end their third season at the Division I level with a 5-13-2 record overall and a 3-6-1 mark in Northeast Conference play.

After a scoreless first half that featured 11 shots by the home team, Monmouth opened up the scoring in the 49th minute when Stacy Kadell fielded a pass at the top of the box from Kim Malecki and sent a shot past Bryant keeper Kelsi Jacob (Mahwah, N.J.) for her first goal of the season.

The Hawks scored again in the 64th minute when a header by Mary Wilkes was deflected to the feet of Kliment who then delivered a shot to the left side for the 2-0 advantage.

Monmouth extended its lead six minutes later when Kliment was tripped up in the box for a penalty kick. The senior then buried the shot in the back of the net to give the home team a 3-0 lead and the eventual win.

Freshmen Ari Goldberg (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Casey Schifano (Greenlawn, N.Y.) paced the Bulldogs offensively with one shot on goal, both of which were saved by Monmouth keeper, Lia Faierro. Jacob had four saves on the other end for Bryant.
