Bengston selected for NEWISA Senior Bowl

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After helping lead the Bryant University women's soccer program to its best season at the Division I level in 2012, senior captain Alex Bengston (Andover, Mass.) has been selected to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl.

This season, Bengston started every game for the Bulldogs, recording a career-high six points on three goals, scoring all three goals in a seven-game span. Bengston tallied scores against UMass on Aug. 22, at URI on Sept. 2, and against Delaware St. on Sept. 14.

Each year the NEWISA selects seniors from Division I, II and III schools in New England to compete in the annual game. This marks the first season in the Division I-era that a Bryant women's soccer player has been selected to participate. The match is set for 11 a.m. on Dec. 2 at Merrimack College.
