Follette, Kozlowski tabbed as 2013 captains

WOMEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES 2013 CAPTAINS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Juniors Shana Follette (Plymouth, Mass.) and Alyssa Kozlowski (Elliot City, Md.) have been tabbed as co-captains of the Bryant University women soccer team for the upcoming 2013 season, announced head coach Chris Flint on Friday.

The pair played an instrumental role in helping the Bulldogs set a Division I program record in 2012 for wins, finishing 11-8 overall, 6-4 in Northeast Conference play. Finishing a single-point out of a NEC Tournament position, the Bulldogs will be even hungrier for a postseason berth in 2013.

"We are very happy to announce Alyssa and Shana as captains for this upcoming season," said Flint. "Two players that have worked extremely hard over the past couple years and have become very important to the program."

Kozlowski appeared in all but one match in 2012, making 15 starts, establishing herself as a mainstay in the Bryant backline. She registered two assists on the year, but her experience in the defensive third will be most important in 2013 as the Bulldogs lose three-quarters of their starting defense.

Follette had a year to remember in 2012, starting all but one game for the Black and Gold emerging as one of the top offensive threats in the NEC. The Massachusetts native tallied a team-high 17 points on eight goals and one assist en route to an All-NEC Second Team selection.

"They both have played a ton of minutes for us and that experience is invaluable," added Flint. "And coming so close [to a postseason berth] this past season, they know exactly what it takes to reach that level."
