Coach Bigg's Comments

"I was very impressed with the effort of our players today and the team can be proud of the high level of commitment we displayed. We worked very hard in defense and we were able to force a lot of turnovers which we turned into good attacking opportunities. Having gone a goal down, the team showed a lot of character to come back and turn one of those opportunities into the tying goal late in the first half. After going behind again in the second half, we never backed down and continued to press forward to create chances to score, but we were unable to find the tying goal despite the great effort."

Key Moment

  • The Red Flash were able to get a quick start to the second-half, scoring less than five minutes in after Emilee Barnett was able to get free and fire a shot low to the far post and into the net, giving SFU a 2-1 lead.

Scoring Summary

  • 31st minute – SFU 1, Bryant 0 – Erica Carpenter finished off her second goal of the season after she received a cross from Alyssa McGhee near the corner flag to give the Red Flash the lead.
  • 41st minute – Bryant 1, SFU 1 – The Bulldogs were the beneficiaries of an own goal when Katie Cronin's (Feeding Hills, Mass.) cross deflected off a Red Flash defender and into the net.
  • 50th minute – SFU 2, Bryant 1 – Barnett's second goal of the season was the end product of nice passing from the Red Flash, and her shot to the far post found the net to give Saint Francis the lead for good.
