Bryant drops NEC match at FDU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's soccer team dropped to 3-2 in Northeast Conference play on Sunday afternoon when they fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 2-0 in Teaneck, N.J.

"I was very pleased with the effort of our team today. We worked very hard, passed well and outshot our opponent on the day. Full credit to FDU for two well-taken goals. We'll learn from the experience and keep working to fine-tune our game as we head into the last weeks of the regular season."

  • After a scoreless 45 minutes, FDU was able to get on the board when Elma Kolenovic sent a ball across the face of goal and right to the foot of Sofia Albertsson who fired it into the bottom corner in the 53rd minute to give the Knights the advantage.

  • 53rd minute – Fairleigh Dickinson 1, Bryant 0 – The play was started when Jessi Reinhardt played Kolenovic through to the end line and she was able to get space and fire it across the box, where Albertsson was waiting.
  • 80th minute – Fairleigh Dickinson 2, Bryant 0 – Reinhardt then scored her own goal to put the icing on the cake for the Knights when Viktorija Miseljic sent a long ball forward to Reinhardt, and she took a touch and put it into the top left corner of the net.

Stats/Notes 

  • The Bulldogs were shut out in losing fashion for the first time this season.
  • Senior Rachel Brightman (Rochester, N.Y.) was able to make two point-blank saves in the first half, marking the first time since Sept. 10-13, 2015 that she's recorded multiple saves in back to back games.
  • Senior Haley Reddish (Natick, Mass.) recorded three shots in the match, marking the sixth time in seven games she's tallied multiple shots.
