Irwin headlines four Bulldogs selected for All-NEC honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Jamie Irwin (Succasunna, N.J.) highlighted four Northeast Conference All-Conference selections at the Women's Soccer Tournament Awards Banquet on Thursday night in Teaneck, N.J.

Irwin was selected to First Team All-Conference honors, as well as to the All-Rookie Team, after anchoring a Bulldogs defense that recorded a league-best 0.73 goals-against average and kept seven clean sheets during the year.

She is the first freshman to be selected to an all-conference first team in the program's history and is just the third Bulldog in the Division I era to receive NEC First Team All-Conference honors, joining Allison DeBenedictis and Hannah Crofut (Buffalo, N.Y.).

Joining Irwin on the All-Rookie team is Amanda Spitaleri (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), who finished the season with two goals, including scoring the game-winner in her first career game on August 18. The pacey forward was always in the middle of the action in the attacking third, finishing the season third on the team in both shots and shots on goal.

Two players were honored with NEC Second Team All-Conference honors, as Haley Reddish (Natick, Mass.) and Remi Manna (Pleasantville, N.Y.) were recognized. Reddish finished the season leading the Bulldogs with five goals on the season, coming in tied for the eighth on the NEC leaderboard.

Manna finished the season with the same amount of points as Reddish at 10, but compiled four goals and two assists to get there. The sophomore finished the year with three game-winning goals, with two of them coming in conference matches against Mount St. Mary's and Wagner.

The Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Tournament commences on Friday morning, when the fourth-seeded Bulldogs take on top seed and host Fairleigh Dickinson at 11 a.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday at Noon.
