Irwin earns United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Jamie Irwin (Succasunna, N.J.) was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-East Region Third Team, the organization announced on Tuesday night. Irwin is the first winner of a recognition on the teams in the program's history.

She was named as one of 19 defenders chosen through the three teams from all Division I teams in the East Region, as defined by the United Soccer Coaches. Schools represented are located as far west as Saint Louis and as far south as Florida State.

The New Jersey native is also one of three players selected from the Northeast Conference, with Central Connecticut's Jennifer Cafferky and Fairleigh Dickinson's Jessi Reinhardt earning Second Team honors.

Irwin helped the Bulldogs to one of their best seasons in program history, leading the defense to a 0.80 goals-against average and seven shutouts, both of which were new Division I records, en route to their second playoff berth in Bryant's Division I history. Bryant's 11 wins were also a new program record in the Division I era.

United Soccer Coaches is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization that serves members of every level of the game. They provide support for new coaches as well as spotlight the nation's best soccer from the collegiate ranks to the youth level.
