Biggs announces addition of O'Brien Heidelberger to coaching staff

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's soccer head coach Andy Biggs is pleased to announce the addition of Ashley Heidelberger to his coaching staff, starting with the 2018 spring season.

"I'm very happy that Ashley has joined our program," coach Biggs said. "With seven years as a Division 1 assistant, she's set to hit the ground running.  She's proven her work ethic and enthusiasm for helping student-athletes to reach their potential everywhere she's coached, and I'm sure we'll all benefit from her character, determination, and insight, both on and off the field."

O'Brien Heidelberger returns to the Northeast after spending two years at Hawaii as an assistant coach, helping lead her team to a seven-win improvement from 2015 to 2016, the fifth-largest jump in Division I. She also helped lead the Rainbow Wahine to their first win over a Pac-12 opponent since 2013 when they defeated Arizona State 1-0 in overtime.

She also was an assistant at Brown University during the 2014 and 2015 seasons and spent three years before that at the University of Idaho.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work for Bryant Women's Soccer team with Andy Biggs and represent the Bulldogs," O'Brien Heidelberger said. "Andy has done an incredible job with leading this program and has made them extremely competitive in the NEC under his leadership. I'm excited to be at a school that has incredible support for their athletics programs and continue the tradition of excellence that this program has established both on and off the field."

In her playing career, she spent four years in Storrs, Conn. as a member of the UConn Huskies, going to the Elite Eight of the 2007 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament and being named an All-Big East Tournament team member in 2008. She then played two more years at the University of San Francisco where she was named Defensive MVP in 2009 and a member of the All-West Coast Conference teams in 2010.

She graduated with a BA in Business from UConn in 2008 and an MA in Sport Management from San Francisco. She currently holds a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and will complete her US Soccer "B" License this spring.
