Biggs releases 2019 schedule

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's soccer program and head coach Andy Biggs announced its upcoming 2019 schedule. The Bulldogs kick off the season on the road on Aug. 22 at Iona.

"In 2019 we look forward to a schedule that will offer us a great challenge each week," said Biggs. "After an excellent spring and a summer of hard work, our team is excited to start playing together again in August. These games will be a great opportunity to continue to sharpen our game each time out, and prepare us to be playing our very best soccer in October and November."

After squaring off in the Empire State, the Bulldogs make their way up north to Quinnipiac on Aug. 25 before heading to Maine on Sept. 1 to complete their three-game road stretch.

The Black and Gold return to Smithfield for their home opener on Sept. 5 against Holy Cross. The Bulldogs blanked the Crusaders, 2-0, in 2018. After the home opener, Bryant welcomes Merrimack to the Northeast Conference on Sept. 9 in Smithfield. The former Division II program missed the NE10 postseason tournament last season posting a record of 8-7-2.

Bryant takes a day trip to Fairfield on Sept. 12 before returning to the Bulldog Soccer Field on Sept. 15 to take on Vermont. The Bulldogs topped both non-conference foes in 2018, topping the Stags, 2-1, and blanking the Catamounts, 1-0, in the non-conference finale.

The Northeast Conference schedule is full steam ahead beginning Sept. 20 as the Bulldogs play host to the defending NEC champions, Central Connecticut.

The Bulldogs then head to Pennsylvania to take on Saint Francis U on Sept. 27 and Robert Morris on Sept. 29.

The month of October opens at home against Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 6) and Wagner (Oct. 13).

The final full NEC weekend takes the Bulldogs on the road to St. Francis Brooklyn (Oct. 18) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Oct. 20).

The Black and Gold closes out the home schedule on Oct. 27 against Sacred Heart before wrapping up the season at Long Island Nov. 3.

The Bulldogs are coming off an 8-7-1 overall season tying Fairleigh Dickinson for fourth in the final standings with a conference record of 4-3-1. Bryant missed postseason play last season after falling to Mount St. Mary's, 1-0, to close out the season.
