Women's Soccer celebrates 2020-21 season
Smithfield, R.I. The Bryant University women's soccer team celebrated the 2020-21 season with their annual banquet at Beirne Stadium on Friday.
Team MVP - Meghan Dalton
Dalton has been one of the cornerstones of the defense for the past four seasons. In her senior season, Dalton posted 38 saves, three wins, three shutouts, a save percentage of .809, and a goals-against-average of 1.14.
Rookie of the Year - Makayla Griffin
As a freshman, Griffin played in seven games as a sub on the defense, which allowed 11 goals this year. She was named to the NEC All-Rookie Team for her efforts during the season.
Most Improved Award- Lucy Smith
This season Smith played in a career-high eight games as a defensive sub and helped the Bulldogs win three conference games.
Defensive MVP - Jamie Irwin
Irwin became the first player in Bryant's history to make the All-NEC first team four years in a row. She has been the most consistent defender for the Black and Gold as she has made countless plays to stop opposing offenses from scoring.
Core Values Award - Becca Michaud
In the game against Wagner, Michaud scored her first career goal and the game-winning goal on a free kick from 35 yards out.
Offensive MVP - Amanda Spitaleri
Spitaleri was named to the All-NEC second team for the second time in her career, and it's the third time overall she has made an All-NEC team. Spitaleri scored the game-winning goal against St. Francis Brooklyn and dished out an assist in the 1-0 win vs. Sacred Heart.
