Carson scores first career goal in win vs. HC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Anna Carson of the Bryant University women's soccer team recorded her first goal in the 2-1 victory over Holy Cross at Beirne Stadium under the lights.

Emma Pedolzky rallied the game-winning goal in the 77th minute of the game on the assist from Sofia Cassano.

"Our team showed a lot of character tonight. We competed well for 90 minutes in attack and defense and continued to play positive attacking soccer after conceding the tying goal. Our consistent positive mindset was key as we pushed for the go-ahead goal and locked down the win in the final minutes".

  • 32nd minute - Bryant 1, Holy Cross 0 - The Crusader's goalkeeper picked up the ball outside the box, resulting in a free kick for the Bulldogs. Carson took the free kick from 35 yards out and ripped a shot to the left of the goal with her right foot for the score.
  • 66th minute - Bryant 1, Holy Cross 1 - Holy Cross received a corner on the right side of the field. The Crusaders chose to send a pass to the top of the box, which was then shot by the HC forward to tie the game.
  • 77th minute - Bryant 2, Holy Cross 1 - The Bulldogs had a throw-in from about 35 yards out, which was corralled by a Bulldog forward. HC then kicked the ball away, but Sofia Cassano took it and passed it to Pedolzky, who launched a shot to the right of the net.
