BULLDOGS DOMINATE IN DUAL MEET SWEEP OF PROVIDENCE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted impressive victories over Providence on Friday at the Taylor Natatorium. The men posted a 183-115 victory, while the women won 210-90.

The Bulldog men (1-1) evened their dual meet record with their second victory over the Friars in as many seasons. On the women's side, it was another dominant performance as they won every swimming event for the second time in three meets.

Bryant received outstanding performances from senior Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.), graduate student Alex Kosenski (Lavallette, N.J.) and sophomore Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.). They all won three individual events and helped their respective relay team to a fourth victory.

The women continued their dominance this season as they have now won all but three swimming events. Ostrander won the 200 free (2:09.83), 100 free (59.58) and the 100 fly (1:06.92) and Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.), Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) and Julia Messina (Canandaigua, N.Y.) all won a pair of events. Smith claimed the 800 free (9:25.07) and the 200 IM (2:26.99), DeBever claimed the 100 (1:06.58) and 200 (2:22.62) and Messina won the 100 (1:15.52) and 200 (2:46.46) breast.

On the men's side, the trio of victories by Kosenski and Beck were more than enough for the Black and Gold. Kosenski won the 50 (24.10), 100 (52.80) and 200 (1:57.15) free, while Beck claimed the 800 free (8:54.62) and the 100 (1:06.72) and 200 (2:26.88) breast. Cameron Hessler (Southbury, Conn.) won the 100 back (1:01.69), Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) claimed the 100 fly (59.57) and Andrew Neggia (Ramsey, N.J.) added his first-career victory in the 200 fly (2:15.49).

Bryant capped the meet by sweeping the relay events. Ostrander, Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.), Dana Yu (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:00.66 and Valenzuela, DeBever, Kristie Chan (San Francisco, Calif.) and Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) claimed the 400 free relay with a time of 4:04.85. Hessler, Beck, John Lawson (Bernardsville, N.J.) and Karadimas won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.47 and Kosenski, Steven Sinclair (Middleton, Mass.), Sam Linder (Dillsburg, Pa.) and Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:42.00.

The Bulldogs return to the Chace Athletic Center pool on Thursday, Nov. 1 when they host the University of Maine. The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m.
