WSWM finishes third at Harold Anderson

BEHIND SMITH AND DEBEVER, BULLDOGS THIRD AT HAROLD ANDERSON

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) and junior Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) both turned in strong performances as the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team finished third at the Harold Anderson Invitational over the weekend.

The Black and Gold finished the two-day event with 594 points, third behind Rhode Island (904) and Providence (620.50). The University of Maine, Assumption and Holy Cross rounded out the standings.

Both Smith and DeBever earned a pair of top-three finishes to lead the Bulldogs in the pool. Smith finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.95 and third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.08. DeBever was second in the 100 free (53.22) and third in the 200 free (1:54.86). A trio of freshmen also shined for the Bulldogs as Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.), Dana Yu (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.) all performed well. Doerrman finished fourth in the 400 IM (4:41.49), Yu was fifth in the 100 fly (59.26) and Schauer was third in the 200 back (2:09.72).

The Bulldogs have a week off before they conclude the 2012 portion of their schedule next Saturday, December 8 at the Chace Athletic Center Pool against Rhode Island.
