Watson wins three events against Boston College

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Valeria Watson (Mexico City, Mexico) won three events to lead the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team against Boston College last Friday in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Despite the three victories from the rookie, the Bulldogs fell 184.5-115.5. Bryant is back in the pool on Oct. 24 when they head to Providence to take on the Friars.

In just her second collegiate meet, Watson shined for the Black and Gold. She opened the meet by winning the 1000 free with a time of 10:48.74 and then won both the 100 and 200 back events. Watson won the 100 back with a time of 59:86 and the 200 back with a time of 2:08.96.

Top Performers

Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.) – Finished second in the 1000 free (10:54.69).

Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) – Finished second in the 200 free (1:58.90) and in the 100 free (54.41).

Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.) – Finished second in the 100 back (1:00.77) and third in the 200 back (2:12.08).

Mackenzie Kirk (San Jose, Calif.) – Won the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.24. Finished third in the 100 back (1:00.95) and 100 free (55.27).

Nicole Salzano (Elmwood Park, N.J.) – Won the 500 free with a time of 5:19.04. Finished third in the 200 free (1:59.24) and 200 IM (2:16.25).

Julia Messina (Canandaigua, N.Y.) – Finished second in the 100 breast (1:09.62) and third in the 200 breast (2:31.30).
