Bryant wraps up day one of tri-meet with CCSU, Wagner

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team won nine events on the first day of a tri-meet against Northeast Conference rivals Central Connecticut and Wagner.

Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs opened the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay. Reetta Kanervo (Oulu, Finland), Kayleigh Canavan (Cumberland, R.I.), Lindsey Choate (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) and Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) combined to win the event with a time of 1:36.71.
  • Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa) and Alyssa DiFiore (Wethersfield, Conn.) then went 1-2 in the 200 free, with Doruska posting a time of 1:54.09.
  • Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) continued her strong start to the year with a victory in the 100 back (58.35).
  • Kanervo, the reigning NEC Swimmer and Rookie of the Week, then claimed the 50 free with a time of 23.86.
  • Rivera earned an individual victory in the 200 IM, touching the wall with a time of 2:10.45.
  • Sammi Grenon (Chesire, Conn.) and DiFiore then went 1-2 in the 1000 free, with Grenon winning the event with a time of 10:37.18.
  • Bryant closed the swimming portion of the night with a victory 400 medley relay. Scifo, Heather Wong (Ramsey, N.J.), Elin Svard (Falun, Sweden) and Doruska won the event with a time of 3:56.37.
  • Rookie Kyri Chambo (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) shined on the boards for the Black and Gold. She won both the 1-meter and 3-meter, finishing with scores of 205.30 and 210.70, respectively.
  • Fellow rookie Katelyn Kirves (New Port Richey, Fla.) finished second in both events.
