Bulldogs start season versus Sharks
Smithfield, R.I. - The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team returned to action in a home meet against conference opponent Long Island University today. This meet was not scored.
Coach Keanen's Comments:
"We had a good afternoon session with the women. Fun to be back racing and competing against an in-conference team. Ready to get back to work this week!".
Notes and Notables:
- The Bulldogs began the 2021 season with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Julia Stenhård, Alexa Rivera, Laurel Carey, and Erin Doruska recorded a time of 1:50.01.
- Sammi Grenon and Claire Russell placed second and third in the 1000 free with times of 11:02.47 and 11:29.05. Grenon also earned second place in the 500 free (5:28.77)
- The Black and Gold continued to reach the podium with back-to-back third-place finishes in the 200 free and 100 back by Erin Doruska (2:00.22) and Stenhård (59.71)
- Bryant earned another third-place finish when Sara Gendron finished with a time of 2:21.53 in the 200 fly.
- Doruska continued her solid meet when she touched the wall at 55.47 in the 100 free to earn second-place.
- Freshman Amelia Berg placed third in the 200 breast by posting a time of 2:38.64.
- The Bulldogs claimed their first victory of the day in the 100 fly when Rivera recorded a time of 58.75.
- Grenon earned her third top-three finish by placing third in the 200 IM (2:17.81)
- Bryant ended the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay by the team of Laurel Carey, Doruska, Alyvia Beaudion, and Rivera (3:40.73).
- In diving, Kyri Chambo recorded scores of 189.85 and 103.25. Freshman Rose Cunningham posted scores of 137.45 and 103.25.
