Bulldogs Extend Lead at WPI; Lord Swims 200 Back at U.S. Open

WORCESTER, Mass./GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Bryant swimming and diving teams continued their success on the second day of the Gompei Invitational, taking eight overall wins to extend their overall lead. Reagan Lord also rounded out the Bulldogs' weekend at the U.S. Open, swimming the 200 back.

Freshman Jill Carline led the Bulldogs with four event wins on the day at WPI, with Marcella Figueroa, Mason Campbell, Julia Stenhard, Laurel Carey, and Erin Doruska all picking up multiple wins as well across individual and relay competition.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • The women's 200 freestyle relay team of Carline, Figueroa, Doruska, and Carey started the day with a win, hitting the wall at 1:35.81.

  • Sammi Grenon led a Bryant 1-2 in the 400 IM, swimming a meet record 4:27.29. Natalia Kuipers came in second.

  • Stenhard picked up her fourth win of the weekend with a 56.05 in the 100 back.

  • Mason Campbell and Brandon Naylor finished 1-2 in the 50 fly, with Campbell hitting the wall at 22.99.

  • Carline, Doruska, and Charlee LeGallais took a podium sweep the 200 free. Carline led the way with a 1:51.27.

  • Stenhard, Doruska, Carline, and Nellie Clark combined for a win in the women's 400 medley relay, swimming a time of 3:52.83.

  • The Bulldogs won both mixed relays on Saturday. The 200 free team of Carey, Figueroa, Campbell, and Conner Lofstrom swam a 1:30.65, while the 400 medley quartet of Stenhard, Campbell, Carline, and Alex Rowson had a winning time of 3:38.98.

  • Reagan Lord swam a 2:22.44 in the 200 back at the U.S. Open, placing 38th.
