Bulldog Women Defeat Marist on Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- The Bryant women's swimming and diving team took a non-conference win on Saturday, defeating Marist 171-129. The men's team fell to the Red Foxes but still managed four event wins on the day.

Jill Carline and Julia Stenhard each won three times and Kyri Chambo swept the diving events to lead the women. Leo Luna won both distance events on the men's side. Nellie Clark and Laurel Carey also won multiple events during the meet.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • The 200 medley relay team of Stenhard, Clark, Carey, and Carline started the meet with a win, hitting the wall with a time of 1:51.10.

  • Luna picked up his first win with a 9:39.75 in the 1000 free. He would go on to another victory in the 500, swimming a 4:42.11.

  • Carline earned the women's first individual win with a 1:57.07 in the 200 free. She would pick up another sprint win in the 100, swimming a 54.09.

  • Stenhard won her first individual event in the 100 back with a time of 59.99. She would take her second win in the 100 fly, swimming a 58.24 and heading a Bulldog 1-2 with Carline in second.

  • Clark won the 100 breast, swimming a time of 1:10.62. Alex Rowson clinched a Bulldog sweep of the event, winning the men's race with a time of 59.98.

  • Carey and Marcella Figueroa took a 1-2 finish in the 50 free, hitting the wall just .01 seconds apart (25.17, 25.18).

  • Chambo took her first win in the one-meter dive, scoring 239.40. Sydney Barnett came second for Bryant's third of four 1-2 finishes on the day.

  • Chambo also took first place in the three-meter with a score of 237.68. Drew Arnold won the event on the men's side, scoring 242.63, the Bulldogs' second sweep of the meet.

  • Bryant's final win came in the 500 free, as Charlee LeGallais swam a 5:17.91 to lead a 1-2-3 finish for the Bulldogs. Natalia Kuipers and Makayla Pearce rounded out the podium spots.

What's next: The Bulldogs will round out the regular season this weekend at Boston University. The America East Championships will follow, taking place February 22-25 in Worcester.
