Bulldogs Competing in America East Championships Wednesday to Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Bryant swimming and diving teams will compete in their first America East Championships this Wednesday through Saturday in Worcester. The Bulldogs enter their first America East meet with seven combined NEC titles over the last five years.

The Bulldogs have three swimmers holding top times in the conference this season, including Jill Carline, who has the top time in the 100 free and second best in the 200. The women also have the top three times in the 1000 free and top two in the mile.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Carline's top time of 51.38 in the 100 free was set in December at the Gompei Invitational, the same pool she'll be in this week. Her second-place time of 1:51.27 in the 200 was also set at WPI.

  • Makayla Pearce, Sammi Grenon, and Natalia Kuipers hold the conference's top three times in the 1000 free. Pearce leads the way with a 10:19.56, set in the Bulldogs' final dual meet of the year at Boston University.

  • Grenon and Kuipers also hold the top two times in the mile. They were NEC gold and silver medalists in the event last year.

  • The men's team returns last year's NEC Rookie of the Year in Conner Lofstrom. Lofstrom won five medals at last year's championships and holds top-16 times in the 50 and 100 free this season.

  • Griffin Lajoie holds the America East's second-best time in the 200 back this season, a 1:50.21 at WPI. He won NEC bronze in the event last year.

  • Leo Luna holds the conference's third-best time in the mile, a 16:21.89, set at WPI. He was an NEC champion in the event last year as a freshman.
