Figueroa earns AE Female Swimmer of the Week

BOSTON - Marcella Figueroa of the Bryant University women's swimming & diving team was named the America East Female Swimmer of the Week by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Figueroa collected six total titles at the Gompei Invitational this past weekend. She picked up three wins as part of the relay teams as well as three individual victories. The Lincroft, NJ native won the 50 yard freestyle (23.93), the 50 yard butterfly (25.25), and the 100 yard freestyle (51.98). Figueroa also swam the anchor leg of the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay. The Bulldogs won those events with times of 1:45.16 and 3:32.95. Figueroa also raced the first leg of the 200 yard freestyle relay in which the team swam 1:36.23 to grab the victory.

This is the first weekly award for the women's swimming and diving team this season but the third overall for Bryant Swimming & Diving. Christopher Buonocore has won the weekly diving award twice on the men's side this season.

The Black and Gold will be back in action in the new year when they travel to UMass on January 6th.
