Pearce and Stevens named to All-Academic Team

BOSTON - Swimmers Makayla Pearce and Jillian Stevens of the Bryant University women's swimming & diving team were named to the 2024 America East Swimming & Diving All-Academic Team by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Pearce earns the honor after posting a 3.82 in the classroom as a biology major. She is also a three time Dean's List honoree and was named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll. In the pool, the sophomore took the gold medal in the 500 free at the America East Championships while posting a new program record in the event with her time of 4:51.17. Pearce also earned the silver in the 1650 free with a new program record time of 16:46.40. The Long Beach, NY product also took fourth in the 200 free. Pearce also set a program record in the regular season with her time of 10:08.91 in the 1000 free at the team's BU meet.

Stevens holds a nearly perfect GPA at 3.99 over her four years in Smithfield while studying accounting. The senior is a seven time President's List honoree and earned America East Commissioner's Honor Roll last season. Stevens demonstrated major improvement in the pool from last season in which she placed 12th in the 100 back at conference championships. This year she placed sixth in the 200 back and eighth in the 100 back at the America East Championships.

To be named to the conference All-Academic Team athletes must be starters or important reserves for their programs, complete a full calendar year at their institution, and have a 3.30 GPA.
