Luiggi advances to round of 16 in singles and doubles at West Point Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team faced tough competition at the 2015 West Point Women's Invitational, but sophomore Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) was able to find success in both singles and doubles play.

In the third singles flight, Luiggi skated through the round of 64 on a bye, before beating Claire Schmitz (Marist), 6-2 and 6-2, in the round of 32. The sophomore advanced to the round of 16, where she was defeated, 6-2 and 6-2, by Shea Flanagan (UConn).

The pair of Luiggi and Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) advanced to the round of 16, where they lost to Alderman/ Pletnyeva (UConn), 6-2. On the road to get there, the duo made it through the round of 64 with a bye and defeated Hedberg/ Radovic (St. Peter's Univ.), 6-1, in the round of 32.

The Bulldogs return to the courts on Friday, Oct. 9, when they travel to Holy Cross to take on the Crusaders at 3 p.m.
