Bryant wins NEC Championship with 4-1 win over FDU

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The fourth-seeded Bryant University women's tennis team won its second Northeast Conference Championship on Saturday, defeating second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Bryant claims its second NEC title in program history and its first since 2015. The Bulldogs became the first four seed to win the NEC Championship in league history.  

How it Happened

  • Bryant claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. 
  • At No. 3, Caitlyn Munson and Olivia Rondini continued their remarkable season with a 6-4 win over Amina Lasheen and Shreya Gulia. Munson and Rondini are now 18-3 on the year and have won 14-straight matches.
  • At No. 2, Camila Baeza and Manuela Gomez Estrada earned a dramatic 7-6 victory. 
  • The Black and Gold then won at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5. 
  • Ada Boru picked up a big three-set victory at No. 1. She lost the first set 7-6 but battled back to win the second 6-3. Boru closed it out with a 7-5 victory.
  • Kendall picked up another huge win at No. 3, winning in three sets. She lost the first set 6-3 but rallied to win, 6-3, 6-4.
  • Rondini picked up the win at No. 5, recovering from a 7-5 loss in the second set to earn a 6-3 win in the third set.
  • With the win, the Bulldogs have won their second NEC Championship in program history. 
  • The Bulldogs have earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tennis Championships.
