Bryant faces Oklahoma this afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University women's tennis team will face second-seeded Oklahoma in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships First Round on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. EST.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs won their second Northeast Conference Championship with a 4-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. 
  • Bryant became the first No. 4 seed in NEC history to win the women's tennis championship. 
  • The Black and Gold knocked off top-seeded LIU in the semifinals and then defeated second-seeded FDU in the final. 
  • Bryant will be making its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. 
  • The Black and Gold won two NEC major awards, with head coach Barbara Cilli taking home NEC Coach of the Year honors and freshman Caitlyn Munson winning NEC Rookie of the Year honors.
  • In addition, Ada Boru, Leanne Kendall and Olivia Rondini all earned All-NEC honors. 
  • Boru and Kendall were both named first team in singles and in doubles, while Rondini earned second team honors in doubles with Munson. 
  • Bryant's only other NCAA Tournament appearance at the DI level came in 2015 when it faced No. 3 Cal.
