Bryant downs Stony Brook, Fairfield

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University women's tennis team picked up a pair of victories over the weekend, defeating Stony Brook and Fairfield.

Bryant beat the Seawolves 4-3 on Friday and closed out the weekend with a 6-1 win over Fairfield.

How it Happened (Stony Brook)

  • Bryant picked up its first-ever win over Stony Brook, outlasting the Seawolves in a five hour affair.
  • Bryant opened with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
  • In singles, Stony Brook won at No. 1 and No. 4 to take a 2-1 lead.
  • Natalia Vela won in three sets at No. 2 to tie it and Lisa Marie Dugec won in straight-sets at No. 5.
  • After Stony Brook tied it up, Camila Baeza bounced back from a loss in the first set tiebreak to win the final two sets and clinch the match.

How it Happened (Fairfield)

  • Olivia Rondini and Caitlyn Munson clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2.
  • Bryant then clinched the match, winning five three-set matches.
  • Munson was down a set and 0-3 but refocused and won 13-straight games to win 1-6, 7-5, 6-0.
  • Vela won in three sets at No. 2, while Dugec, Rondini and Baeza also won in three sets.
