BRYANT FALLS TO CENTRAL CONNECTICUT, 3-0, WEDNESDAY NIGHT

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Despite a double-double from senior co-captain Maureen Atkins (Fenton, Mo.), the Bryant University volleyball team fell to Central Connecticut State University, 3-0, Wednesday night at Detrick Gymnasium.

Atkins recorded 16 assists and 11 digs on the night to record the double-double while freshman Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) led the team with 10 kills.

The Bulldogs (16-16) fell by a margin in the first and second sets, 25-15 and 25-18, respectively, but challenged the Blue Devils (9-12) in the final set, forcing extra points before finally falling, 30-28.

Freshmen Hilary Andrews (Tipp City, Ohio) and Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) each recorded nine kills, while Stoner chipped in 15 digs, bested only by the 17 digs of senior co-captain Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.).

CCSU's Amanda Olmstead led the match with 13 kills while Amanda Bayer recorded 37 assists.

The Bulldogs next take the court when they host the National Transitions Challenge on Nov. 14 and 15 at the Chace Athletic Center. The Bulldogs play at 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday and play their final match of the season Saturday at 2 p.m. for 2008 Senior Day.
