SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Sophomore middle hitter Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) tallied 17 kills while junior Adrienne Boss (Dracut, Mass.) and freshman Macy Mitravich (Waimanalo, Hawaii) each added 10 kills apiece but it was not enough as visiting Saint Francis (PA) pulled out a thrilling 3-2 win over the Bulldogs in Northeast Conference women's volleyball action Saturday.

Bryant led, 2-1, heading into the fourth set but the Red Flash would bounce back strong, winning the set, 25-16, to force a fifth and deciding set. Elizabeth Williams led the charge for Saint Francis with five kills in the fourth as the visitors hit a solid .323 offensively with Rachel Capizzi chipping in with three kills on seven swings.

In the fifth, Bryant would race out to a 13-7 lead thanks to the impressive play of Scocca (3 kills, .429 hitting percentage) and three big defensive digs by junior Robyn Gardner (Longwood, Fla.). But the Bulldogs couldn't hold on as the Red Flash rallied to win, 17-15.  Williams had four kills and added a block.

Bryant hit .186 offensively as a team and held Saint Francis to just .155 hitting, but the Red Flash served well, finishing with 10 service aces, including three by Rikki Myers.
