FORMER VOLLEYBALL STANDOUT ELYSCE TACKMANN TO TRYOUT FOR U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM

Former Bryant University women's volleyball standout Elysce Tackmann, currently the head women's volleyball coach at Anna Maria College, will be attending a tryout for the U.S. National Women's Volleyball Team held February 19th -21st at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
A 2007 graduate of Bryant University, Tackmann was a four-year member of the women's volleyball team, helping guide the Bulldogs to three Northeast-10 Conference titles and NCAA appearances in all four years.
The 2003 squad reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. During her career, she played in 146 matches and registered 935 digs defensively. As a senior, Tackmann was the recipient of the Bryant University Bulldog Award, given to a student athlete who exemplifies leadership on and off the court. She'll be looking to earn a spot on the team as a libero.
This will be USA Volleyball's largest-ever tryout with a total of 80 colleges being represented among the participants. In all, 47 middle blockers, 42 outside hitters, 40 liberos, 30 setters and 15 opposites will attend, making for a total of 174 athletes that are expected to participate.
A native of Maui, Hawaii, Tackmann was a two-year standout at East Providence High School where she was the starting setter for the women's volleyball team. Tackmann led the Townies to two undefeated seasons (52-0) and two Division I State Championships during her career. She was named First Team All-State, All-Division, and All-Tournament in 2003.
