TOLEDO, Ohio -- Led by 22 kills from sophomore Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.), the Bryant University volleyball team fell in the final day of the Staybridge Suites Rocket Classic, dropping a 3-1 match to Kennesaw State before being downed by Marist, 3-0, in the nightcap.

Stoner was joined at the top of the kills chart by fellow sophomore Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.), who recorded 19 kills on the day while also collecting a team-best nine blocks in the matches.

Against Kennesaw State, the Bulldogs (0-3) fell behind early, dropping the first two sets, 22-25 and 18-25, before taking the third, 25-21. But the comeback would be shortlived, as KSU returned the favor in the fourth and final set,  22-25.

In the nightcap against Marist, Bryant kept with Marist in the first set, falling, 21-25, before the Red Foxes took the sweep with 25-16 and 25-21 wins in the final two sets.

On the day, senior captain Julie Geonnotti (Eden Prairie, Minn.) paced the Bulldogs with 49 assists, also collecting eight kills and a trio of blocks.

Bryant will see the Red Foxes again when they next take the court, as the Bulldogs hit the road and head to the Marist Tournament next weekend, taking on Providence College (10 a.m.) and Bucknell (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 5 and facing off against host Marist on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.
