Bryant drops match on road to UNH

BULLDOGS FALL TO WILDCATS IN STRAIGHT SETS TUESDAY NIGHT

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore outside hitter Claire Van Dyk (New Richmond, Wis.) recorded a match-best nine kills and added 10 digs while classmate Jana Kmec (Stratford, Conn.) picked up her first double-double of the season, but the Bryant University volleyball team couldn't pull out a win on the road, falling to the University of New Hampshire, 3-0, Tuesday night.

Kmec posted 22 assists and a team-high 12 digs, while senior Alexandria Clyburn (Cartersville, Ga.) led the match with four blocks (5 kills) for the Bulldogs (0-7), who forced extra points in the second frame before falling in three sets, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19. Rookie Mallory Wilczynski (Cary, Ill.) added seven kills and a trio of blocks as the Black and Gold posted six team stuffs.

Tori Forrest paced the Wildcats (5-3) with seven kills while Taylor Dunklau and Madison Lightfoot led the matchup with 31 assists and 15 digs, respectively.

Junior captain Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) put up 10 digs on defense and added an ace, one of five for the Black and Gold on the contest. Senior captain Kendall Gaffney (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added two more perfect serves with four digs and a kill.

Bryant returns to the court Friday and Saturday for a trio of matches at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I. The Bulldogs will take on Eastern Michigan Friday night (5 p.m.) with bouts against host Brown (12:30 p.m.) and Holy Cross (4:30 p.m.) Saturday.
