Volleyball announces Class of 2018

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team and head coach Theresa Garlacy are pleased to announce the signing of five student-athletes that will suit up for the Bulldogs in the fall of 2014.

The Class of 2018 features players from all over the country, including two from New England, and is highlighted by Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.). The five-player class is made up of three outside hitters -- Flynn, Cassandra Sulmeisters (Centennial, Colo.) and Kiley Robbins (Garland, Texas) -- a middle blocker in Alexandra Lunsford (Minneola, Fla.) and a libero in Erica Vendituoli (Nashua, N.H.).
 

Introducing the volleyball Class of 2018:

Cassandra Sulmeisters | 5-9 | Outside Hitter | Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek

Sulmeisters was a three-year varsity letterwinner and senior starter for the Bruins ... Helped the Cherry Creek to a pair of third-place finishes in the state tournament in 2012 and 2013 ... Led team to the Centennial League title in 2012 ... Team won 22 matches in each of her three years, finishing her varsity career with a 66-19 record ... Earned Academic First Team All-State honors twice ... Also named First Team All-Centennial and all-state ... Earned team MVP honors ... National Honor Society member ... Plays club for the Colorado Juniors.

 

 

 

Erica Vendituoli | 5-5 | Libero | Nashua, N.H./Nashua North

Vendituoli was a four-year varsity letterwinner and stater at Nashua High North ... Led the Titans to the state quarterfinals in all four seasons, advancing to the state semifinals as a sophomore ... Named the New Hampshire Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year in 2013 ... Garnered first team all-state honors as a junior and senior ... Competed in the New Hampshire All-Star Game ... Named Nashua High North Team MVP in 2012 and 2013 ... Named a Telegraph All-Star as a junior ... Academically, ranks fifth in her class of 403 ... AP Scholar with Honors ... Secretary of the Spanish Honor Society ... National Honor Society member ... Plays for Smash Volleyball Club.

 

 

 

 

Julia Flynn | 5-9 | Outside Hitter | Pembroke, Mass./Notre Dame Academy

Flynn was a four-year varsity letterwinner and three-year starter at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, Mass. ... Led the Cougars to the Massachusetts Division II state championship as a senior in 2013 after leading her team to the state semifinals as both a freshman and junior ... Notre Dame posted a 73-11 record throughout her four-year varsity career ... Named all-state twice during her career ... Was a three-time Catholic Conference All-Star ... Finished her career with 719 kills and 438 digs after posting more than 300 kills and almost 200 digs in her senior year alone ... Two-time all-scholastic honoree and a Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic selection ... Also earned two varsity letters in track as a freshman and sophomore ... Played with Smash Volleyball Club for two years and helped team win the 2012 New England championship ... As a senior, will play club for Southern Alliance.

 

 

 

Kiley Robbins | 5-10 | Outside Hitter | Garland, Texas/L.V. Berkner

Robbins was a four-year varsity letterwinner and starter at L.V. Berkner in Richardson, Texas ... Named Newcomer of the Year in District 9-5A ... Earned first team all-district honors in 2011 and 2012 ... National Honor Society member ... Plays for MadFrog Club Volleyball.

 

 

 

 



Alexandra Lunsford | 6-1 | Middle Blocker | Minneola, Fla./Lake Minneola

Lunsford was a four-year varsity letterwinner and two-year starter at Lake Minneola High School ... Captained the Hawks in each of her final three years, leading them to back-to-back district championships in 2011 and 2012 ... Set a school record with 160 blocks ... Named the team's defensive MVP in 2010 ... TSVA Most Improved Player in 2009 and TSVA Most Spirited Player in 2010 ... AP Scholar with honors ... Summa Cum Laude ... National Honor Society member ... Plays club for Top Select.
