Bryant falls to Hofstra, 3-0, Friday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore middle blocker Sara DePouw (Oconto, Wis.) and senior outside hitter Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) each posted six kills to pace the Bulldogs' offense, but it wasn't enough to keep the Bryant University volleyball team from dropping a 3-0 decision to Hofstra Friday night at the UConn Tournament.

DePouw recorded the only solo block of the night and helped lead the Bulldogs (3-12) at the net with three stuffs in total. Rookie Alexandra Lunsford (Minneola, Fla.) paced the side with four blocks, while redshirt-freshman setter Vika Nesterov (Kfar Saba, Israel) added three to compliment 10 assists on the match.

Junior Debora Magalhaes (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) posted a match-high eight digs, while Lohr and frosh Natascha Scarff (Geneva, Switzerland) each served up a pair of aces for the Black and Gold.

Nuria Lopes da Silva led the match and Hofstra (10-2) with 11 kills and a .529 hitting percentage while Kelsie Wills and Emily Burke chipped in eight and seven, respectively. Sophia Black added two aces to her match-high eight digs while Adama Aja was tops at the net with seven blocks. Hannah Klemm's 32 assists marked a contest best as the Pride won the tilt in straight sets, 25-20, 25-9 and 25-22.

The Bulldogs return to action in Storrs, Conn., Saturday when they take on the host Huskies at 12:30 p.m. followed by Columbia at 5:00 p.m.
