Bryant returns home to host Providence Tuesday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team, winner of six of its last seven matches, looks to continue its home success when the Bulldogs host in-state foe Providence Tuesday night at the Chace Athletic Center.

Series History vs. Providence
The Bulldogs are 6-3 against the Friars in the Division I era. Providence took last year's meeting in five sets in the state capital. Kirstyn Sperry (Phoenix, Ariz.) totaled 14 kills, 21 assists and 15 digs in the match.

• Bryant is 8-7 on the year after a 2-1 weekend at the Hofstra/Asics Invitational with wins over Syracuse and Binghamton.
• Friday's victory over the Orange was the second over a Power 5 opponent since joining Division I in 2008.
• Senior Ally Lunsford (Minneola, Fla.) and junior Julia Flynn (Pembroke, Mass.) were named to the all-tournament team at Hofstra.
• Lunsford hit .429 with 11 kills in the win over Syracuse.
• Flynn tallied 14 kills and 14 digs in the Syracuse victory and hit .419 with 16 kills in the win over Binghamton.
• Flynn leads the Bulldogs with 3.12 kills per set this season, while Lunsford is hitting a team-best .321.
• Freshman Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.) has recorded a team-best 4.42 digs per set and matched her career-high with 23 in the win over Binghamton.
• The Bulldogs have won 11 straight home matches and are 29-3 at the Chace Athletic Center since the start of 2015.

A Bit About Providence
The Friars opened the year 11-0 but have dropped three straight since with an 0-3 weekend at Army West Point. The 11-0 start was the best in program history for Providence. Addison Root leads the way for the Friars with 3.51 kills per set, while McKenzie Lydon has a team-high 3.71 digs per set. The Friars are hitting .239 as a team.
