Ward named Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University volleyball sophomore Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.) has been selected as the Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Ward recorded 22 digs in Bryant's Friday sweep of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Bryant's three-set win over CCSU moved the Bulldogs into a three-way tie for second place in the NEC standings at the halfway point of conference play. The 22-dig performance was Ward's fifth of 20 or more this season and her career-best in a three-set match.

Monday marks the second time this season Ward has been selected as Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Bryant returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. when the Bulldogs face Saint Francis U in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
