Ward earns Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors
SOMERSET, N.J. - Bryant University volleyball sophomore Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.) has been selected as the Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4, as announced Monday by the NEC office.
Ward's work in the back row was key to a pair of NEC wins over the weekend for Bryant as the Bulldogs improved to 10-2 in conference play. The sophomore libero recorded a career-high 28 digs in Friday's five-set win at Sacred Heart before collecting 18 in a sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday. Ward added 12 digs over three sets in Tuesday's non-conference match against Dartmouth.
Bryant enters the final weekend of the regular season at 20-10 on the year and 10-2 in the NEC. The Bulldogs host two matches at the Chace Athletic Center this weekend, beginning with Friday's showdown with first-place LIU Brooklyn at 6 p.m.
