Letters from alumnae: Kiley Robbins

Each Thursday this summer, Bryant University Volleyball alumnae will reflect on their experiences as a student-athlete at Bryant and playing for Coach Garlacy.

This Thursday's installment is from Kiley Robbins, who played at Bryant from 2014-17.

"Playing volleyball at Bryant University was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I made friendships that have and will continue to last far beyond graduation and learned invaluable lessons to guide me throughout the rest of my adult life.

"Theresa Garlacy taught me to be strong and brave, to never doubt myself and to never settle for less than I deserve. She taught me that it's not enough to just want something; I have to work for it. Theresa Garlacy was tough and strict and pushed us to our limits, but at the end of the day she treated every single person on our team like family and made sure we knew that she cared for us as people, not just players. I owe a huge part of who I am today to Bryant Volleyball as an organization, my teammates, and Theresa Garlacy.

"I now live in Florida and work for an independent private banking firm that underwrites customized financing exclusively for professional athletes."

Bryant begins its 2019 season Friday, Aug. 30, when the Bulldogs face San Diego State in a tournament hosted by FGCU in Fort Myers, Florida. The Bulldogs' home opener will be Friday, Sept. 6, when Bryant hosts North Dakota in its first match of the Hampton Inn-vitational.
