Letters from alumnae: Bunmi Akinnusotu

Each Thursday this summer, Bryant University Volleyball alumnae will reflect on their experiences as a student-athlete at Bryant and playing for Coach Garlacy.

This Thursday's installment is from Bunmi Akinnusotu, who played at Bryant from 1999-2002.

"I've had the honor and blessing of knowing Theresa since middle school. My time at Bryant was special because she knew me as not just an athlete but as a young woman. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself and was always my source of strength and encouragement, on and off the court.

"I continue to use her lessons of perseverance, respect for others, and her 'just do it' attitude as an adult. The best coaches are the ones who embody what they teach - this is the case for Theresa. I am so honored and blessed to have been taught by her."

Bryant begins its 2019 season Friday, Aug. 30, when the Bulldogs face San Diego State in a tournament hosted by FGCU in Fort Myers, Florida. The Bulldogs' home opener will be Friday, Sept. 6, when Bryant hosts North Dakota in its first match of the Hampton Inn-vitational.
