McGovern selected as Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University volleyball freshman Emma McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.) has been named Molten/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 1, as announced Tuesday by the NEC office.

McGovern kicked off her collegiate career with a solid all-around weekend at the Homewood Suites Fort Myers Classic. The outside hitter tallied 1.70 kills, 2.90 digs and 0.50 service aces/set over three matches. McGovern led the Bulldogs with 29 digs on the weekend, racking up 10 against San Diego State on Friday and 11 more vs. host FGCU on Saturday.

McGovern is the third active Bulldog to have earned Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week honors, joining Caroline Kennedy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), who earned two in 2018, and Erika Ward (Rochester, Mich.), who collected one in 2017.

Bryant returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when the Bulldogs travel north to face New Hampshire. The match in Durham can be seen on AmericaEast.tv.
