Bryant selected third in NEC preseason poll

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Northeast Conference released the Preseason Poll results for the 2021 volleyball season and the Bryant University volleyball program was tabbed third by the NEC head coaches.

The reigning NEC champions Sacred Heart was the unanimous choice for the top spot as the Pioneers look to defend their title. Central Connecticut trailed Sacred Heart in the second spot just before the Bulldogs in third. LIU and St. Francis Brooklyn round out the top-five followed by Fairleigh Dickinson and Merrimack.

Bryant finished with a 15-17 overall record in 2019 and 10-6 during the conference play. The Bulldogs tied with Central Connecticut for fourth after the regular season, but the Blue Devils won the tiebreaker which forced Bryant to miss the postseason for the first time since 2014. Now the Bulldogs are back with an experienced and mature roster after losing just three to graduation in Brianna Bruny '19, Nicole Kim '19, and Sydney Gorski '20. The three graduates are succeeded by four new faces, Claudia Borri, Fabiana Castro, Josie Deluga, and Abby Snethen who will make their collegiate debuts this weekend on Feb. 14 when Bryant kicks off the season at Providence.
