Bulldogs Taking on NJIT, UAlbany This Weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will return to America East play this weekend, including a home matchup with NJIT on Friday night. The Bulldogs will hit the road on Sunday, traveling to face UAlbany at 4:00 pm.

Friday's match against the Highlanders is the team's "Dig Pink" game, supporting the American Cancer Society and promoting breast cancer awareness.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Alysa Wright led Bryant with twelve kills, four blocks, and a .280 attack percentage in Tuesday's win over Central Connecticut. She leads the team and is top-ten in the America East in all three categories, as well as service aces. 

  • Haley O'Brien passed Emily Kaup to move into third on Bryant's Div. I block list with her two on Tuesday. She and Wright (301) are two of six in the D-I era with 300+ blocks.

  • The Bulldogs return to Smithfield on a four-match home winning streak. They are 7-1 in the Chace this season, with their lone loss coming to Boston College on September 3.

Scouting the Highlanders

  • NJIT enters the weekend 7-16 and 0-4 in the America East. They picked up a 3-0 win over Hartford on Tuesday.

  • Player to Watch: Senior middle blocker Courtney Branch leads the conference with a .404 attack percentage and is sixth with 1.01 blocks per set (76 total).

  • Bryant is 1-1 against NJIT all-time. They defeated the Highlanders 3-0 last September, with Caroline Kennedy posting a .583 attack percentage in the match.

Scouting the Great Danes

  • UAlbany is 6-15 this season and 1-3 in conference. They fell 3-2 to Sacred Heart in non-conference play Tuesday.

  • Player to Watch: Junior outside hitter Hannah Rowe had 16 kills and six digs in the Great Danes' trip to Smithfield on October 7. She is third on the team with 186.5 total points this season.

  • The Bulldogs' 3-0 win over UAlbany improved their all-time series record to 3-2. Riley James had 14 kills and Mia Cergol had 37 kills in the match.
