Bryant Has Another Shot at Playoffs This Sunday at NJIT

NEWARK, N.J.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will have another shot at clinching a postseason berth this weekend when they take on NJIT. A win over the Highlanders or a UAlbany loss to Binghamton would secure the Bulldogs a spot in the America East tournament.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Alysa Wright was a force in Bryant's 3-0 win over Hartford on Wednesday. She was tops among all players with ten kills, four blocks, two aces, a .667 attack percentage, and 14 total points. She is two blocks away from being the only player in America East with 200 kills, 100 blocks, and 25 aces this season.

  • Haley O'Brien is one block from tying Ally Lunsford for the second most in Div. I program history. She is one of three players in the D-I era with 350 career rejections.

  • A win or UAlbany loss would send the Bulldogs to the postseason for the sixth time in D-I history.

Scouting the Highlanders

  • NJIT is 8-18 overall and 1-6 in America East play. They swept UAlbany last weekend for their first conference win.

  • Player to Watch: Sophomore middle blocker Ines Varela leads the team with 19 aces and is second with 79 blocks. She had seven total blocks in the Highlanders' loss to Bryant in Smithfield on Oct. 21.

  • The Bulldogs' win over NJIT in October was their second win in three matches in the series. Riley James and Caroline Kennedy each had ten kills in that one.
