Volleyball Announces 2023 Schedule

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant volleyball coach Theresa Garlacy has announced the team's 2023 schedule. The Bulldogs will compete in 28 regular season matches from late August to early November, including ten conference matches as they try for a second America East playoff berth in as many seasons.

Bryant will open the campaign out west when they take on the Air Force Tournament on August 25-26. They will face UT Arlington in the opener, followed by matches against Rhode Island and the host Falcons. The Bulldogs will then play their first midweek game on the 30th when they travel to Stonehill for a 7:00pm contest.

The home opener will come on September 1 against Siena in the first match of the Bryant Invitational. The Bulldogs will welcome the Saints, Lafayette, and Northeastern to Smithfield for the tournament over Labor Day Weekend.

The squad follows the home tourney with an extended road trip, visiting Holy Cross on September 6 before taking a short drive south for the Providence Tournament the following weekend. The Bulldogs will face Central Connecticut, Saint Peter's, and the host Friars on September 8-9. The weekend of September 15-16 will see the conclusion of the Bulldogs' preseason tournament schedule when they visit St. John's for the Kaiser Classic. They will face SJU, Arkansas, and Columbia during the weekend.

A midweek tune-up at Merrimack on September 20 will lead into Bryant's conference opener on the 29th when they host defending champion UMBC in the Chace Athletic Center. That lone home game will transition into another three game road trip that will see the Bulldogs visit CCSU on October 3 before conference matchups at UAlbany and Binghamton on the fifth and the eighth. Bryant returns home for three in a row the following week, taking on NJIT on the 13th and New Hampshire on the 15th before reigniting their rivalry with Sacred Heart in a midweek contest on the 18th.

The second half of the conference schedule will commence on October 22 at UMBC, followed by the conclusion of the non-conference slate on the 25th at home vs. Merrimack. UAlbany and Binghamton will come to town October 29 and November 3, the final two home games of the year. The regular season will conclude with two on the road against NJIT and New Hampshire on November 5 and 10, with the America East Tournament taking place on the 17th and 18th.

Bryant will face UT Arlington, Siena, Lafayette, and Saint Peter's for the first time in history this year, and their match with Arkansas will be their first ever against an SEC program. They will resume a pair of rivalries as well, taking on Sacred Heart for the first time since the 2021 NEC Championship and facing Providence for the first time since the Spring 2021 season. The Bulldogs have a combined 77 meetings with the Pioneers and Friars in their history.
