Volleyball Hosting Bryant Invitational This Weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team returns home this weekend to host the Bryant Invitational Tournament. Siena, Lafayette, and Northeastern will be in town to take part in the four-team event.

Series History:

• This is the first time Bryant will face Siena in program history.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

• Following their win over the Skyhawks, Bryant now ranks first in the America East Conference in overall kills with 180. 

• Junior Carolina Camacho is fourth in the America East in assists this season averaging 5.13 per set.

• Sophomore Lea Mackey enters the tournament following a career game that saw her record 7 kills with a .636 hitting percentage against Stonehill.

• Freshman Brookelyn Talmadge currently ranks second in total blocks among America East players so far this season with 23.

• Sophomore transfer Arianna Ugolini is averaging 10 kills per match since donning the Black and Gold.

Scouting the Saints

• Siena will be looking to pick up their first win of 2023 after dropping their first three games of the year to Hofstra, Delaware State and NJIT.

• Junior, Olga Sawinska, leads the team in kills this season with 26.

• Junior Claire Isaksen is averaging 11 assists per match this season.

• Junior Sara Wagner leads the team in service aces with 8.

Scouting the Leopards

• Lafayette will be kicking off their season at the Bryant Invitational. The Leopards finished last season going 8-15 with a 5-11 record in conference play.

• Junior Abby Nieporte led the Leopards with 256 kills last season.

• Senior Alyssa Vitale was 6 assists shy of eclipsing 500 for the 2022 season.

• Christian Kiselica, who spent eight years at Cedar Crest College, begins his first season as the Lafayette women's volleyball head coach.

Series History:

• The Bulldogs have a lifetime record of 1-6 against the Huskies.

• The Bulldogs have not won a Division I match against Northeastern. (Last victory came in 1982 when Bryant was still Division II).

• Like Siena, Northeastern enters the Bryant Invitational without a win in 2023 following losses to Toledo, Grand Canyon, and Wake Forest.

• The Huskies have not won a set in their previous two matches.
