Bulldogs fall to Razorbacks in Kaiser Classic finale

QUEENS, N.Y. – The Bryant women's volleyball team dropped their final match of the Kaiser Classic to #16 Arkansas in a 3-0 sweep. The Bulldogs finish the tournament 1-2  and are now 8-7 on the season. Bryant's Arianna Ugolini was also named to the All-Tournament team.

"Today showed us that we can compete with the big dogs. Such a great opportunity to develop our young team as we prepare to start conference play."

HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Arkansas)

  • Set 1- The Bulldogs got off to a good start against the Razorbacks and held an early three-point lead. While Bryant would stay competitive for the remainder of the set, Arkansas would edge them out down the stretch and win 25-19. Ugolini recorded 4 kills in the set and Madison Koeller and Morgan Smith each had service aces.

  • Set 2- After opening the second with an Arianna Ugolini kill, Arkansas would go on a 9-0 run and take control of the set. Bryant would try to battle back but the deficit would prove too large as Arkansas would win 25-11. Carolina Camacho recorded 4 assists in the set and Ugolini would tack on another 3 kills.

  • Set 3- Down 0-2, Bryant played well against Arkansas but was unable to get within striking distance. The Razorbacks would ride to victory thanks a strong attack that featured 5 Taylor Head kills in the set. Arkansas would hold on and win the set once again by a score of 25-19.Miranda Jantzen had 2 kills and London Hunt and Nadine Abdat each had block assists for the Bulldogs.

STATS

  • Arianna Ugolini led Bryant with 8 kills in the match.

  • Carolina Camacho led the defense with 7 digs.

  • Taylor Head (13), Jillian Gillen (13), and Hailey Schneider (12) all had double-digit kills for the Razorbacks.

  • Carrina Barron recorded a service ace in each match of the tournament

  • This is the first match of the season where the Bulldogs lost in three sets.
