Bulldogs take down Dolphins on Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I.– The Bryant women's volleyball team defeated the Dolphins from Le Moyne College this Sunday in four sets. The Bulldogs get their second win in a row and are now 10-7 as they enter conference play.

"Great team effort with consistent attacking and one of the best blocking nights of the season.  The setters ran a balanced offense and defense was solid. We are looking forward to getting started in conference play."

HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Le Moyne)

  • Set 1- The Dolphins made an early statement in the match by getting off to a 9-3 start. Bryant would then fight back and tie the score at 19 on a Brookelyn Talmadge kill. Le Moyne however would manage to hold on by a final score of 25-22 on a Kayla Anstett ace. Talmadge had an additional 3 kills in the set and Morgan Smith and Miranda Jantzen each had block assists.

  • Set 2- Bryant and Le Moyne would open the second set in similar fashion, playing to a 3-3 tie, before the Bulldogs would break the set open and go on a 9-3 run the saw kills from Melis Isik, Morgan Smith, and Brookelyn Talmadge. The Dolphins would manage to tie the set at 15 but then would not score again as the Bulldogs would take the set 25-15. Carolina Camacho tallied 7 assists and Aubrey Lapour had 5 block assists.

  • Set 3- Bryant would ride their momentum into the third set by beginning on a 7-0 run that included a Carolina Camacho ace and kills from Ugolini, Lapour, and Talmadge. Lapour and Ugolini would each put up 5 kills and hit .667 and .500 respectively. Bryant would win the set by a commanding 25-10 score.

  • Set 4-In the deciding set, the Black and Gold would remain dominant and capitalize on Le Moyne's weaknesses. Arianna Ugolini and London Hunt each hit 1.000 in the set and Melis Isik put up 6 assists and an ace. The Bulldogs would win the set 25-15 and win the match in 4 sets.
