Volleyball to host Sacred Heart on Hispanic Heritage Night

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will host the Pioneers from Sacred Heart for a non-conference match this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Wednesday will also be Hispanic Heritage Night at the Chace as the team celebrates all of the wonderful music and cultures rooted in Latin American and Spanish speaking countries.

Series History:

  • Bryant has a 27-23 lifetime record against the Pioneers but is  9-21 record since moving to Division I. The two teams last squared off for the NEC Championship in 2021 and saw Sacred Heart win in four sets.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Arianna Ugolini enters Wednesday's match ranked 12th in the NCAA for aces this year. She also leads the America East Conference (39).

  • Aubrey Lapour is 26th in the nation in kills with 62 this season.

  • Morgan Smith ranks 1st in the America East conference with a .324 hitting percentage

  • Brookelyn Talmadge has posted 58 blocks entering Wednesday which ranks 6th best in the conference.

  • After posting her first career double-double on Sunday, Josie Deluga sits at 2nd in the America East with 314 digs. (73rd best in the nation).

 

Scouting the Pioneers

  • It's been a tale of two seasons for Sacred Heart in 2023. Against non conference teams, the Pioneers are 1-10. However against conference opponents this season they are undefeated with a 7-0 record.

  • Gaby Zovko is 8th in the nation in aces this year with 41. She also leads the Northeast Conference.

  • Jasmine Rogers is second in the NEC for digs this season with 247.

  • Christina Montanez leads SHU in blocks this year with 58. (6th best in NEC)

  • Camryn Luginbuhl leads the Pioneers with 158 kills this year.
