Bulldogs finish third at CCSU Mini-Meet

Men's Results / Women's Results

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Sophomore Eimear Black's (Glengormley, Ireland) second third-place finish of the year and a third-place finish by the men's squad highlighted the Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams final tune-up before the Northeast Conference Championships at the CCSU Mini-Meet.

Having paced the Bulldogs in each race she has competed in this season, Black nearly won her first-career race, finishing five seconds behind the Providence College tandem of Shelby Greany and Emily Sisson. Black finished the 3K course in a time of 10:11, and the next three Bulldogs all finished within eight spots of each other. Junior Megan Robertson (Sewell, N.J.) finished second for the Black and Gold with a time of 11:19.

Coming off a second-place finish last weekend, the men's squad nearly matched that with a strong showing over the 5K course on Saturday. For the second-straight week, junior David Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) led the Bulldogs across the line, finishing 10th with a time of 15:45. Graduate student Stephen Wood (North Providence, R.I.) had his best race of the season for the Black and Gold, finishing 17th with a time of 16:02. The Bulldogs finished third behind Central Connecticut and Providence.

Bryant will now set its eyes on the NEC Championships next Saturday, Oct. 29, at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.
